Diary from New York City: Day 1

Nothing in New York City moves slow.

I've never been to New York City. [until yesterday]
I've never seen a hipster. [until we almost hit two. they swerved in front of us. on bikes. with skinny jeans.]
I don't own a pair of converse. [but i might bring some home]
And I've never walked so far, so fast in any city... in my life. [did i mention how fast these people walk here?]

Nor have I ever had this fabulous of food-- for every meal.

I'm crashin' on my bff's futon for the weekend for a fabulous few days in NYC. Since she had to work this afternoon, I had coffee in the morning with her downtown and she made me a beautiful map of downtown, detailing all of the great places I could see. It was a crisp autumn morning. What could possibly go wrong?

No one told me 3 million Yanks were coming into town to celebrate their 27th baseball victory and were going to cram into 4 blocks... oh... just... the 4 blocks I planned to visit.
But I'll show you that tomorrow.

Here are a few photos from my first introduction to the City yesterday.

Below was my first cup of coffee in NYC. Not just any ordinary cup of coffee. Working in a coffee shop for 3 years my picky palate immediately noticed the coffee of the day was french pressed. And I didn't even have to ask. I fell in love.

And here is one of the last photos I took yesterday. Renee and Ramon took me to Sea for some exquisite pad thai. Half a day in the city and I was already looking for one of those cheesy big red heart shirts.

It's only been 30 hours but I (heart) NYC.
